In this game there's no lion, but there are definitely witches. And a wardrobe, but not what you might expect. The upcoming retro-style jRPG The Chronicles of Nyanya is full of delicious silliness.

Cats tend to scratch furniture so furniture doesn’t like cats. In Nyanya you can be attacked by a herd of wild stools, sometimes led by the more dangerous chairs. Cats kill wild furniture to use it as, well, furniture. But sometimes the balance of power is disturbed. There are rumors about an army of Nazi furniture, including the most fearful wardrobes, gathering up North. The whole malevolent reich is bound by cold nihilism. Which brings us to...

Want to know more about the game? Add The Chronicles of Nyanya to your Steam wishlist and wait for upcoming updates.

The Chronicles of Nyanya will be released in February, 2018. The game offers up to 20 hours of gameplay & multiple endings.

Or just a regular smartphone. It's not called the iPope, actually, but you know... you can call the Pope! Get it? I'm sorry.

Well, the thing is, even though our brave comic book-inspired exorcist has been retired for some time, when the world stands on the brink of Armageddon, he can count on the Church's help. And not just anyone's help mind you, but the one and only Pope is ready to offer him some feedback or comments on the latest developments.

6297043_151726865731_5.jpg

Feeling stuck? Or maybe you’ve forgotten some crucial info whilst fighting waves of cultists, demons or vampires? Hell, maybe you just need a bit of spiritual support? Take out your mobile phone, choose the Pope's number and immediately get back on the right track!

6297043_151726867443_6.jpg

There's only one problem. Our Pope is very friendly and sometimes kinda... too clingy? You know, you don't always want to know what the weather is like in the Vatican at the moment or what he had for breakfast. So, if you don't feel like picking up the phone, just don't, like… ever.

But if you really want to contact the Pope, add The Unholy Society to your Steam wishlist and be up to date with all the announcements.

Life is lousy when you’re a preacher... erm um, an exorcist priest who must face the most iconic bad guys of the horror genre. Not only that, you’ve lost your memory and your skills. Jesus! Fortunately, you have your trusty dusty Bible, a sharp wooden stake, a revolver and the phone number to the pope, who will do everything for you.

6297043_151726859062_2.png

Fat Dog Games and CATastrophe Games would like to present a game that is reminiscent of your favorite horror movies, books and games, and it’s hilarious. The reality in which the Werewolf King, the Great Old One, Satan and Sadako from The Ring establish a joint anti-world club, cannot be serious.

6297043_151726860023_3.png

The retired exorcist will undertake a mission to save the world, which will lead to witty dialogues, funny plot twists and an interesting mix of turn-based and arcade fighting. The bitter priest will soon join the pantheon of antiheroes playing with hellfire – walking the same paths of the protagonists of the comic books Preacher and Hellblazer.

The Unholy Society will be released in Q2 of 2018. You can already add it to your Steam wishlist.

What was your dream job when you were a kid? Did you want to visit new worlds as an astronaut? Maybe you wanted to save lives while wearing a white doctor's coat? Or maybe, just maybe, you were fascinated with all the mechanical parts, the scent of oil and the loud, powerful engine noises coming from beautiful two-wheeled beasts? We, in Dev4Play, certainly belong to this third group of dreamers, but our passion developed even more after we’d reached adulthood.

6297043_151726789453_11.jpg

We love all kinds of motorbikes and motorcycles, though not many of us are capable of riding and maintaining those mechanical monsters. But the love is real and should be shared with all of you – the players. That's why we’d decided to build a complex and realistic motorbike mechanic simulator which allows you to take part in the joy of building and repairing the coolest bikes. Gather up all those tiny parts – at first you’ll have no idea where they’ve came from, but for sure the engine will be okay without them. Maybe.

6297043_151726792462_12.jpg

Anyway, you're probably wondering just how deep our mechanic simulator's mechanics will be? We're aiming big, cause we have no other choice with having such passionate guys on board. The game will offer 4 types of randomly generated missions: small repairs (changing visible parts), thorough overhaul, building a motorbike from scratch following client guidelines and recycling motorcycles for parts. The game will start with only the simplest tasks available to the player. The more experience gained, the more complicated the missions that will be unlocked.

6297043_151726796141_13.jpg

Do you remember those "extra" parts? You can always try to build a new motorcycle and ask professional collectors to estimate their value. Perhaps you could earn some nice cash constructing your own custom machines.

6297043_151726797561_14.png

Sounds like fun, right? If you're as passionate about motorbikes as we are, please add Motorbike Garage Mechanic Simulator to your Steam wishlist to be up to date with all important news!

6297043_151726762872_6.png
Dev4Play has already released several games and they continue to work on new projects, including Motorbike Garage Mechanic Simulator. At first glance it’s just another small studio like many others. Except it’s not.

First of all, Dev4Play is not a group of friends working out of a garage with nothing more than passion. It is not a small corporation with rigid rules and tons of procedures either. They have a publisher with whom they have been collaborating for the past few months. The team itself is not that small, as it has about 30 people working on different projects. In addition, the fact that the studio collaborates with a publisher does not translate to losing independence.

Indie with a no-drama approach

6297043_151726765731_7.jpg

I’m sitting at the studio’s HQ in Warsaw, talking with Paweł Byliński, one of the programmers who is currently working on a game with a self explanatory title, Motorbike Garage Mechanic Simulator. We are talking about the philosophy behind the studio. One can say that they are much more indie than other small developers. Work in Dev4Play is less a 9-5 job and more like being a part of a collective or commune. The developers work like they want, though Paweł tells me that they like their work so much they often spend 15 hours or more working.
However, if you’re looking for the typical drama so popular in the industry, you’ll be disappointed. It’s not a story about a group of people who left their corporate jobs to make video games; who had to mortgage their homes to spend money on equipment and a place to work; who crunched so much that their relatives and friends left them.
Even though they sometimes spend their whole day at work, there’s nothing to prevent them from taking a brake to take care of something else.

But this is not the most interesting thing about Dev4Play. It turns out that to become a team member you don’t even need to have any experience making games!
Let’s say you’ve always wanted to make games, but you lack the experience to do so. You’ve watched every YouTube tutorial, bought some books, even applied for an online course. But no matter how hard you try, there’s always something holding you back.
That’s where Dev4Play comes in. Senior members of the studio will teach you everything they know. What do they ask in return? Your commitment to one of the projects. If you’re good enough and have something interesting to share, you’ll get to become a permanent member of the team, work full time and even make your own game one day.

No experience required?

Okay, but does it really work? Doesn’t employing fresh people and teaching them from scratch cause delays and overall chaos within the company? And, more importantly, isn’t a team of qualified professionals more efficient?
“When you take on people with experience from previous projects, you never really know what they were actually doing, how they were working and how they’ll fit in. In our case, we become familiar with one another, we know what to expect and our team knows what to do,” Paweł explains.
That’s not to say Dev4Play will forever remain an incubator for beginners. Once enough people decide to stay and the team has its final form, the studio will switch over to working in larger groups focused on fewer, bigger projects, instead of doing many smaller ones.

Birth of the bikes

6297043_151726767732_8.jpg
As impossible as it sounds, it actually works, as you can see in their latest production, Motorbike Garage Mechanic Simulator. It’s been in development for the past eighteen months, half of which is under the publisher. It’s a… well, it’s a game about being a motorbike mechanic.
In the game you own a garage and accept jobs to earn money and XP. You work on bikes - choppers to be exact, which means you get to work on heavily customized vehicles which you can mold to your liking.
When playing the alpha version, I never once thought that Motorbike Garage Mechanic Simulator could be the work of only two people. Surprise! Indeed it is, at least on a permanent basis; the rest of the team sometimes contributes, but are more focused on their own projects. What I saw, however, is the attention to detail - the motorcycles consist of over 260 parts, most of which can be freely changed to meet the expectations of in-game customers. And it’s not just about picking a red fender or a green one - each of the customizable parts has ten variants that the player can choose from.
Although there are a lot of simulators on Steam, we’ve not had the possibility of picking up motorcycles yet. Paweł saw the niche and went for it. It was an analytical decision rather than the result of being a passionate mechanic. This is a direct reflection on Dev4Play - they are stable, professional and calculated.

6297043_151726769593_9.jpg

Steady as she goes

And just as there was no drama in establishing the studio, you won’t find it in its everyday functioning either. Sometimes someone will leave because it turns out that working in a group is not for them, but there’s nothing dramatic about it. “Sooner or later you will find something that will seem like an impassable barrier,” Paweł says. “So you either take advice from the more experienced colleagues and deal with it, or you leave and start doing something else.”
It’s the same with the criticism. Everyone in the studio knows that it’s impossible to please everybody, as much as they’re aware that people on the internet can sometimes be jerks. No one makes an issue out of someone writing a few bad words about either the game or the studio itself.
If someone posts constructive criticism, they try to fix or change the things that do not work. However, they try to remember that receiving negative reviews is a part of the job - a fact many developers forget when they start receiving negative reviews or any other form of backbiting, whether it’s fair or not.

Hi people!

Greetings to all Inner Voices fans!

Did you know that the music to Inner Voices was created by the Turkish composer Halil Can Öztürk? If you want to learn more, here you will find an interesting interview with the composer in English.

Thanks again for buying our game!

6297043_151726622111_4.png

We adore League of Legends! One guy from our team was so into it, he even managed to advance to the diamond division. Competition is his middle name. He has spent whole nights battling other players. There's only one thing that didn't quite click with him, and we as a team don't appreciate it either. One tiny mistake during a 50 minute match can completely ruin your chances for victory in League of Legends. Just like one small misstep shatters your chances with the prettiest girl at the party. Um... yeah, that’s some food for thought.

6297043_151726624992_5.jpg
Anyway, we wanted to create a competitive game which could retain the pure fun of rivalry that we love in League of Legends, while making the outcome of the battles less dependent on those small slip ups. It’ll feel less stressful that way and kind of more fun, we'd say. In addition, we’ve chosen a 1v1 style of gameplay, so the players can’t blame their losses on that one friend whose mom is yelling at him to go to bed. Sorry, Chris.

6297043_151726627241_6.jpg

That's how we came up with the idea for Ignis – a magic themed battle game with a complex ranking system directly inspired by LoL. The game will offer 7 leagues, divided into 5 divisions, with the title of archmage waiting for the best of the best! Battles will use the popular “best of 3” system and players will collect special points that will grant them a chance for promotion.

6297043_151726629811_7.jpg

Oh, did we mention split-screen? Yup, we love couch gaming parties, so we're going split-screen!

6297043_151726613391_1.png

Hi people!

When two wizards battle, magical projectiles, curses and summoning spells fly everywhere like deadly fireworks. This is the reality of Ignis, a battle arena game where you choose your spells and control the trajectories of your projectiles. The game is a creation of the passionate people at Deusald Studio from Cracow, Poland.

6297043_151726616173_2.png

The most important thing about Ignis is that it’s fast-paced. You don't spend as much time on duels as in similar online games. Short and intense - this is the motto. Be quick, be skillful, and leave your mark on the global leaderboard. Aren’t you excited?!

6297043_151726563612_6.jpg

I'm in love with all the sci-fi stuff – especially robots and androids. It's not a coincidence that when I spilt my coffee, which determined the artstyle of Futurust, I was reading Fables for Robots by Stanislaw Lem. To this day he's one of my favorite authors and I can't recommend his books enough. I especially adore The Cyberiad, a compilation of humorous short stories about the adventures of two "constructors" – Turl and Klapaucius, who are facing various individual or societal issues and travel through space in search of true human happiness. Its charming steampunkish vibe goes straight to my heart, and that's the atmosphere I want to recreate in the world of Futurust.

6297043_151726570252_7.jpg

The game is set on Earth in the distant future, where the planet is overgrown with weird, round plants. They're not hostile to living beings by any means. Sometimes they even serve as shelter for life that needs refuge. The thing is, all human cities are now rusting away and deteriorating, and there is another life form developing their culture alongside the forgotten metropolises. They call themselves Turnips - they actually look like turnips if you ignore the eyes and all the tentacles. Believe me, it takes some time to get used to them, but eventually you do.

6297043_151726573273_8.jpg

All the while, the developing Turnip society is flourishing – they even chose a king and a shaman! Sadly, the Turnips don't learn from human mistakes and they have their share of dirty politicians and the corruption that comes along with them. For example, the king is getting along really well with the police commander – with all the mutual benefits, of course!

6297043_151726574883_9.png

But one day, the police commander, who is a robot, starts hunting and destroying his mechanical brothers and sisters! What in the world could have happened in his rusty brain?
